Demand for luxury real estate around Lake Wörthersee remains high and is even showing an upward trend, according to Thomas Hopfgartner, Managing Director of LIVING DELUXE Luxury Real Estate. “Fortunately, for the first time in years, there are more properties on offer at Lake Wörthersee than in the past. This is mainly due to a generational change,” says the luxury real estate expert. Buyers of luxury properties on the shores of Lake Wörthersee are usually private individuals looking for a secure and stable investment.

Prices for luxury properties around Lake Wörthersee remain stable and high. While prices vary greatly depending on location, there is no significant difference between the various towns and villages. Properties directly on the waterfront with first-class facilities, in good condition and with an attractive view continue to be particularly sought after. While houses and apartments are equally in demand, the former are much rarer on the market and command higher prices.

Hopfgartner predicts that demand for luxury real estate at Lake Wörthersee will continue to rise and possibly explode in the coming years. This is due to the advantages of the region and the challenges in southern European vacation destinations – such as increased forest fires, extreme temperatures, water pollution, and a deteriorating security situation resulting from an increase in break-ins. This is likely to lead to a significant increase in prices, “because the shore of Lake Wörthersee cannot be extended,” says Thomas Hopfgartner.
